Abstract: This research analyzed the contents of main chemical composition of cured tobacco using descriptive statistics and cluster analysis in the main tobacco production area of Sichuan Province and also made the statistics analysis among the leaves of the different types of tobacco. The results showed that the major chemical compositions of cured tobacco leaves in Sichuan were harmonious in general, but there were large variation; The Sichuan tobacco production area could be divided into 5 types. The first one located in the southern edge of Sichuan Basin, the mountain area, the Da county and Yuanba district, which belong to middle sugar, middle alkali, middle potassium district, the flavor character of the flue-cured tobacco of this area was from light type to middle type, the main type was the intermediate type; Second one located in Wangcang county, which belongs to the district of low sugar, low alkali, low potassium, the flavor character of the tobacco was the intermediate type; The third one located in Xuanhan county, which belonged to the district of low sugar, the high alkali, the high potassium, the flavor character of the tobacco was also the intermediate type; The forth and the fifth types located in the southwest mountains of Sichuan, it mainly contained the two cities of Liangshan and Panzhihua, belonged to the district of high sugar, the middle alkali, the middle potassium. The flavor of the tobacco in the forth district mainly was the intermediate light type and in the fifth district the flavor of the tobacco was dominated by the intermediate-light type and the light-intermediate type. When it comes to the chemical composition among the leaves of the different types of tobacco, the coordination is present in the forth and fifth types, and absent in the third type.
