Abstract: The change trends of production and market of tobacco leaves were analyzed synthetically by using data of planting areas, purchases, imports & exports and consumption of tobacco leaves in China from 2005 to 2011. The result showed that there was a growing trend in total planting area and purchasing volume of tobaccos in China although yearly fluctuation. The flue-cured tobacco developed stably, with the purchase amounts occupying about 96% of total state tobacco, while the output of air- & sun-cured tobaccos increased yearly. The volume of tobacco exports was basically stable in despite of a slight difference year by year, whereas the total amount of tobacco imports increased year after year. The consumption of tobaccos increased every year along with the increment of nationwide cigarette outputs. In conclusion, China tobaccos maintained good momentum of development and relatively steady growth of market.
