Abstract:
The contact toxicity of eleven common edible oils at different dosages was evaluated against the adults of cigarette beetle
Lasioderma serricorne (F.) by typical application in laboratory. The results showed that eleven common edible oils had strong contact toxicity against
L. serricorne adults, which also significantly increased with increased treatment dosages. At the treatment dosage of 0.2 μL/adult, rapeseed oil, refined tea oil, peanut oil, rice bran oil, soybean oil, grape seed oil, sunflower oil resulted in 95% or more mortality within 24 h, and there were no significantly different among them. Thus, the edible oils have huge potential for controlling
L. serricorne.
