Abstract:
Yueyan97 (previously MS96-7), a new flue-cured tobacco variety of F1 generation was developed from the cross between MS9207(female parent) and Yueyan96 (male parent), passed the evaluation of National Tobacco Variety Evaluation Committee in March, 2009. Yueyan97 had uniform and strong growth, barrel type, uniform leaves, reasonable group structure, stable genetic character, uniform leaf thickness. The leaves yellowed and ripened well and easily, and were easy to cure. Yueyan97 was resistant to black shank, moderately resistant to wilt, yet moderately susceptible to CMV and TMV, susceptible to brown spot and highly susceptible to PVY. Yueyan97 was tolerant to fertilizer and water, and adapted to southern China and Huanghuai tobacco growing regions. Compared with the control variety K326, the yields, average price, the proportion of middle and upper leaves, and the output value of Yueyan97 increased by 15.6%, 10.94%, 26.28%, and 25.5%, respectively. Its appearance quality was evidently superior to that of K326, yet the chemical components and industrial usability was similar.
