Analysis on Ecological Conditions in Nanxiong Tobacco-growing Areas

    • In order to define the ecological characteristics of Nanxiong tobacco-growing areas, the meteorological data for 25 years in Nanxiong tobacco-growing areas were collected, and 300 of soil samples from major tobacco-planting areas in Nanxiong were collected, and the meteorological conditions of tobacco field growing period and nutrient status of main tobacco planting soil were analyzed. The results showed that, during root spreading stage, temperature was too low, and precipitation was too high, and sunshine hours was too low in Nanxiong tobacco-growing areas. The temperature, rainfall and sunshine hours were fine during fast growing period, but these were excessive during maturing stage. The purple soil was alkaline, with low organic matter and nitrogen contents and high phosphorus and potassium contents. The purple paddy soil was slightly acidic, with high organic matter, nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium contents. The sand soil was acidic, with high organic matter, nitrogen and phosphorus and low potassium and water soluble chloride contents. The contents of available boron, exchangeable manganese and exchangeable magnesium were extremely deficient in 3 soils. The ecological conditions of Nanxiong tobacco-growing areas in general are suitable, although there are some limiting factors.
