Abstract
In order to optimize the diet of Armachinensis during its mating period in large-scale breeding, the oviposition of Armachinensis when provided with pupa of Mythimna separate and Tenebriomolitor as diet was evaluated. In addition, the pupa survival rate of M. separate and T.molitor after cryopreservation was investigated. The results showed that after cryopreservation at 6℃ for 30 days, the pupa survival rates of M. separate and T.molitor were 89.33% and 22.67%, respectively. The total and average oviposition amount, and the hatchability of A.chinensis fed on refrigerated T.molitor pupae were significantly higher than those fed on refrigerated M. separate pupae during mating period. Armachinensis had higher predation preference for refrigerated pupae of T.molitor than M.separata. The pupae of T.molitor stored at low temperature could be an important diet to improve the efficiency of artificial propagation for A. chinensis during its mating period.
