Effects of Applying Combinatorial Enzymes during Cigarette Production on Sensory Quality and Compatibility of Expanded Tobacco

    • In order to improve sensory quality of expanded tobacco and increase its ratio in cigarette blend, expanded tobacco from Liaoning Province was studied by designing the optimal combinatorial enzyme formula, applying it in the cigarette production process, evaluating the effects and applying it in the cigarette blend of Renmindahuitang Red hard. The results showed that by applying combinatorial enzymes in the cigarette production process, the offensive odors were reduced, the starch, protein and nicotine contents decreased and the levels of total sugar, reducing sugar and the full volume of aroma components increased significantly. Enzyme-treated expanded tobacco in Renmindahuitang Red hard cigarette blend was increased from 20% to 25%. It could be concluded that combinatorial enzymes could improve sensory quality and compatibility of expanded tobacco, increase its ratio in cigarette blend and reduce production costs.
