Abstract
To find out soil type distribution and soil nutrient characteristics in Qujing, soil samples were taken from 9 counties of Qujing and their nutrient contents were determined. The results showed that there were 6 soil types, including limestone soil, yellow soil, purple soil, red soil, paddy soil and alluvial soil. Limestone soil was mainly located in Puli, Xuanwei. The organic matter content and available nitrogen in Limestone soil were extremely rich, the available phosphorus and available potassium contents were insufficient. The yellow soil was mainly located in the most of Luoping and the southern Fuyuan. The contents of all nutrients in the yellow soil were rich. The purple soil was mainly located in the northern Xuanwei and Huize, and also scattered in the other areas. In the purple soil, the organic matter contents and available nitrogen were rich, but significantly lower than the other soil types, the content of available phosphorus was rich, the content of available potassium was rich or lack. Red soil was located in all counties. Paddy soil was mainly located in the northern Luliang, most of Malong and the west of Zhanyi. Alluvial soil was located in addition to Zhanyi, Shizong and Luliang. In those soil types, the organic matter content and alkali solution nitrogen were extremely rich, the available phosphorus content was rich, and the available potassium content was rich or lack.
