    Resistance Identification and Evaluation of Tobacco Germplasms to Tobacco Virus Diseases

    • The identification and evaluation of 202 germplasms resistant to three tobacco viruses: tobacco mosaic virus (TMV), cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) and potato virus Y(PVY), were carried out in greenhouse from 2005 to 2006. The results are as follows. To TMV, 21 germplasms were immune, one was resistant, 30 were medium resistant, 130 were medium sensitive and 20 were sensitive. To CMV, 4 were resistant, 20 were medium resistant, 79 were medium sensitive and 99 were sensitive. To PVY, one was immune, 2 were resistant, 33 were medium resistant, 96 were medium sensitive and 70 were sensitive. For superior quality and resistance, Baisezhong (flue-cured tobacco), Big るま(sun-cured tobacco) and KoKulu izmir (oriental tobacco) can be used directly. The other germplasms including 8301 and Huangjindou (both are burley), immune to TMV, and Yanggaoxiaolanhua (N. rustica L.), resistant to three virus diseases, may be utilized as parent materials in breeding for virus resistance.
