Abstract
The effects of different mulch methods on growth, yield, and quality of flue-cured tobacco were studied. The results showed that the “straw mulching after film uncovered” technique improved soil temperatures during the early field period, promoted tobacco plants to grow early and quickly and reduced the proportion of early budding plants. At the flue-cured tobacco maturing stage, it decreased soil temperatures, maintained soil moisture and root vigor, and lengthen mature time of top leaves. At the same time, it remarkably increased yield and value, increased reducing sugar contents and decreased nicotine contents of tobacco leaves.
