Study on the Leaf Properties and Curing Characteristics of Flue-cured Tobacco Leaves in Damianshan

Physical properties, tissue properties, and protective enzyme systems of five fresh tobacco leaves, and physical properties of five cured tobacco leaves were studied. The results showed that there were distinct differences in physical properties of fresh, flue-cured tobacco leaves, tissues properties, and protective enzyme systems among those five leaves. Among the five different fresh tobacco leaves, the grey and the greenish yellow leaves had poor curing characteristics, normal leaves had typical matural characteristic, organizational structure and cell alignment of odd shaped leaves was very loose, and odd shaped leaves had many cavum. Among five different cured tobacco leaves, the grey and compact leaves had poorer quality, the loose leaves had better quality, the quality of “HE AI” tobacco leaves was normal.
