    Effects of High Molecular Weight Polymer on Growth, Yield

    • The effects of high molecular weight polymer for tobacco (HMWPT) on growth, yield and quality of flue-cured tobacco were investigated in the Northwestern Hunan. The best result was observed with treatment of 4.5 g HMWPT per plant. HMWPT application improved tobacco root growth, increased effective leaf number and stem width, increased leaf yield 15.4% and output value 3 345 yuan/hm2, increased soil capability of conserving water and nutrients, and soil nutrient availability as well.
