Abstract
Field experiments at two locations (Yishui and Feixian of Shandong Province) were conducted to investigate the effect of fertilizer application rates(high, medium, low, and null) on tobacco (var. zhongyan100) leaf yield and quality. The results showed that tobacco leaf yield and average price increased with the increase of fertilizer application levels. The superior leaf proportion and average price reached highest under the nitrogen level of 105 kg/ha. The best smoking test results were observed when nitrogen rate was 75 and 142.5 kg/ha for high and middle fertile soils, respectively. The results suggested that Zhongyan100 required high level of nutrient supply. To produce higher quality tobacco, the minimum yield of Zhongyan100 should be 2 250 kg/ha.
