Abstract
Correlation coeficient analysis and path coeficient analysis for 10 characters of 24 pure lines of flue-cured tobacco were conducted. The number of the availabe leaves, the length of the biggest leaves showed a positive or a strong positive correlation with the yield per plant .And The number of the availabe leaves and the yield per plant showed a strong positive correlation with the ratio of the upper leaves. The results indicated that the yield per plant among these traits played major role in determining ratio of upper leaves while the other traits were less related to the ratio.Unweighted pair group cluster analyses showed that the 24 pure lines of flue-cured tobacco were clustered into two groups. Of the pure lines Line TI706 and TI245 had a far relationship with all other lines, and had a heterosis when crossed with the other lines. Lines baopi and R72(3)B-2-1 were closely related .
