Breeding and Selection of Flue-cured Tobacco Variety Yuyan6 and Its Characteristics

    • Yuyan6 was developed by crossing MSK326 with ND202. Yuyan6 has stable agronomic traits and can grow rather uniformly in field. Yuyan6 has higher drought tolerance, resistance to black shank disease, medium resistance to bacterial wilt, and high potassium content. Its cured leaves are rich in oil, and have shining bright and well distributed orange color. The chemical composition of leaves is favorable and well proportioned, and can meet the requirement of tobacco industry. Compared with the check variety NC89, the leaf yields, yield value, average price and ratio of high class leaf of Yuyan6 can increase by 19.03%, 44.86%, 10.70 % and 20.42%, respectively. With high quality, yields and wide adaptability, Yuyan6 is suitable for China’s north tobacco growing areas, especially with drought conditions.
