New Flue-cured Tobacco Variety Trials in Yongzhou

The new varieties of Yunyan201, Yunyan202, Yunyan203, Zhongyan201, Zhongyan99, Zhongyan100, Yuyan3, Guiyan4, and CAF1 were introduced in Yongzhou, Hunan in 2006-2007. The results of field demonstration trials showed that the cured leaves of Yunyan203 had the highest appearance quality, good disease resistance and yield value. The overall performance of Yunyan203 was similar to those of Yunyan87, which is the major variety used in South China. Thus, Yunyan203 is very promising for extension in Yongzhou. Zhongyan201 and Guiyan4 were the second to Yunyan203, but the other varieties showed no promising.
