Abstract:
Q-type
Bemisia tabaci is one of the main pests that harm tobacco in recent years. It is necessary to clarify the difference in the resistance level to Q-type
Bemisia tabaci in the main tobacco varieties in China. Under laboratory conditions, we investigated the selection tropism of Q-type adults of
Bemisia tabaci, 72 h egg production, correlation with trichome density of of abaxial leaf surface, and influence of tobacco leaf volatile on its selection tendency. The selectivity and oviposition traits of Q-type
Bemisia tabaci adults on tobacco varieties were significantly different among different varieties of tobacco. The significant correlation between the density of tobacco leaf tichome and the oviposition selection of Q-type
Bemisia tabaci, the number of adults (8.22 heads/plant), egg production (135 capsules/plant), and density of trichome on the back of leaves (164.67/cm
2) were the lowest in variety NC71. Further, the Y-smell instrument was used to determine the behavioral responses of Q-type
Bemisia tabaci to leaf odor and extracts of Yunyan 97, Qinyan 96, Zhongyan 104, NC89 and NC71 tobacco varieties. The results showed that NC71 leaves and their extracts had a significant repellent effect on Q-type
Bemisia tabaci (The taxis of
Bemisia tabaci were 24.67% and 13.33%, respectively). NC71 is highly resistant to Q-type
Bemisia tabaci adults and oviposition, and has a potential of popularizing planting in tobacco-growing areas.
