Abstract:
The change trends of production and market supply-demand relationship of sun-cured tobacco leaves were analyzed synthetically by using survey data of planting areas, purchase quantity, market demand of tobaccos in China from 2010 to 2019. The results showed that there was a first up, then down trend in total planting area and purchasing volume of nationwide sun-cured tobaccos in spite of larger fluctuation for the dark sun-cured tobaccos than the other types between years. After 2013, there was a going-down trend in the two items of all type sun-cured tobaccos but a gently fall rate for oriental tobaccos. The planting scale of the sun-cured tobaccos in 2019 was 43.4% of that in 2010. The percentage of oriental tobacco was rising in total planting area and purchasing volume of nationwide sun-cured tobaccos, whereas that of the other types was falling. The percentage of sun-cured yellow, dark, oriental and rustica tobacco in total planting area in 2013 was 34.4%, 30.3%, 33.3% and 2.0% separately, while in 2019 was 22.7%, 27.4%, 49.7% and 0.2%. The sales of all sun-cured tobacco types dropped yearly in domestic and foreign markets as well as a gradual reduction for client and demand. The sun-cured tobaccos exported to foreign countries were mainly the fresh-cut sun-cured tobaccos and oriental tobaccos from Yunnan province with few exports from other growing regions. The drop of production of sun-cured tobaccos was certainly related to the declination of leave export volume and blend cigarette yields at home. It was suggested that there is a great potentiality in the future market for sun-cured tobaccos. Accordingly, the protection and use of raw material resources of different sun-cured tobacco types should be strengthened.
