Abstract:
Guiyan28, a new male-sterile hybrid tobacco variety, developed by crossing MSMa’eryan as the female parent and Bi'na No. 1 as the male parent, was approved by the National Tobacco Variety Approval Committee in 2024. The new variety had consistent and vigorous field growth, moderate resistance to black shank, bacterial wilt, and root knot nematode, and its comprehensive resistance proved comparable to that of K326. Guiyan28 was sensitive to nitrogen fertilizer and not easy to cure, yet proper cultivation technology and curing methods could improve the major economic traits of the cured leaves. With high appearance quality, coordinated chemical components, and outstanding aroma of amber sweet fragrance, the cured leaves of Guiyan28 displayed good compatibility, and high industrial usability. In conclusion, Guiyan28 is a new special tobacco variety with synergistically-featured fragrance of flue-cured, sun/air-cured, and oriental tobacco.
