Abstract:
Longyan 102, a new flue-cured tobacco variety, was bred using pedigree selection method. It is characterized with early growth, rapid development and low temperature resistance with Honghuadajinyuan being used as female parent and moderately resistant to black shank line 9709-322 as the male parent. The variety was approved by the National Tobacco Variety Approval Committee in April, 2024. It had strong growth potential, enlarged leaf, yellow inter-layered site, maturation tolerance, easy to cure, and was sensitive to nitrogen fertilizer. Its economic traits were significantly superior than the tested varieties. The results of disease resistance test showed that Longyan 102 was moderately resistant to black shank, slightly susceptible to PVY, CMV, TMV, root-knot nematode disease and brown spot, susceptible to PVY, indicating an overall comparable resistance to NC89 in Northeast Region. The quality of cured tobacco and physical property are comparable to the tested varieties. Overall sensory quality is slightly inferior than NC89 and comparable to Longjiang 911. The chemical composition is well-balanced. In summary, Longyan 102 performs well in terms of yield, quality, and other aspects, with excellent comprehensive traits. It is suitable for production in the Northeast Region.
