Abstract:
Soil samples from eight tobacco production areas in southwestern Hubei Province were analyzed. The results indicated that 14% of the soil experienced different levels of acidification. 50% and 86.5% of the soils were found with relatively higher levels of organic matter and available nitrogen, respectively. 63.5%, 58.5%, 89% and 88.2% of the soils were deficient in calcium, potassium, magnesium, and boron, respectively, including 28%, 20.1%, and 55.4% of the soils extremely poor in phosphorus, potassium, and boron, respectively. Thus measures should be taken to control soil pH and nitrogen fertilizer rate, and calcium, potassium, magnesium and boron fertilizer should be applied. 79.1% of the soils were not deficient in zinc, but we should pay attention to changes of soil zinc contents
