Abstract:
In order to quickly determine the content of total petroleum ether extract in tobacco, the standard method was improved, such as dipping the tobacco sample overnight, and adopting sieve papers canister instead of Soxhlet extractor in weighing. Results showed that the extract time was shortened by 2 hours after dipping the tobacco sample overnight. After adopting sieve papers canister, 12 samples were extracted once in a set of equipment, thus the new method could evidently save extract equipment, reduce the use of petroleum ether and the consumption of electricity and water, and accelerate determination speed. The relative standard deviation(RSD) of the improved method was below or slightly over 1.0%. The method was adequate for quick determination of total petroleum ether extract contents in tobacco.
