Abstract:
Heluo1 is a new flue-cured tobacco variety developed through pedigree selection, with G80 as the female parent and CV87 as the male parent. Its breeding focused on drought tolerance, disease resistance, and quality. The variety exhibits vigorous field growth with thick and sturdy stalks. It shows moderate resistance to brown spot, moderate susceptibility to PVY, and susceptibility to bacterial wilt, black shank, root-knot nematode, TMV, and CMV. It demonstrates good drought tolerance, with leaves showing distinct layered yellowing at maturity, good maturation tolerance, and easy curability. The cured leaves are predominantly golden-colored with a loose to fairly loose structure, medium body, slight to moderate oil content, and medium to strong color intensity. Its overall appearance quality is better than that of the main control variety NC89. The main economic traits such as yield and output value of this variety are higher than those of NC89. The content of each chemical component in the raw tobacco is within the appropriate range, with good coordination, slightly superior to the control. Its sensory quality is better than NC89 and comparable to the secondary control, Zhongyan100. In summary, Heluo1 is an excellent variety with outstanding drought tolerance, suitable for cultivation in the Huanghuai and Northeastern tobacco-growing regions of China.
